Services Part 4: Pre and Postsurgical Care

If you are planning to undergo an orthopedic surgery, it’s a great idea to get a physical therapy assessment prior, to understand what your strength, endurance, and functional movement baselines are. Also, setting expectations for what your pain experience will look like in the acute and later recovery stages is essential to successful rehab after a surgery.

Postsurgical rehab varies greatly dependent upon the nature of the procedure and your surgeon's specific protocol for aftercare. In many cases, physical therapy is indicated at some point to ensure restoration of good movement, and to build the base for effective strengthening and returning to what you love to do.
